The Nigeria Olympic Committee,N.O.C, has disassociated itself from a publication in the national dailies that the Committee has announced fourth of May as the new date for election into the Committee.
In a realease made available to sportsweight.blogspot.com, said that the Committee has not scheduled any new dates for elections into the Executive Committee after Dec. 9, 2010 Dutse Annual General Meeting/elections were re-scheduled.
While appreciating the anxiety of some individuals who have been desirous to have the elections, the Committee said there must be mutually agreed date, time and venue, stressing that the geture is the only way it would be in line with the international Olympic codes.
The Committee's Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya, said the Committee must take cognizance of the report of the three-man body of elders to evaluate the screening of candidates for election .
The three- man Committee which include Reverend Moses Iloh, Ibrahim Galadima and Olatokunbo Thomas has just turned in their report, which was received by President of NOC, Engr Habu Ahmed Gumel in company of Chief Jonathan Nnaji, the 1st Vice-President of NOC.
He said the NOC must show respect to the elders by deliberating on their report and seeking clarifications, where necessary, stressing that NOC needs to ensure full reconciliation in line with their agreement at the botched Dutse Annual General Meeting/elections, so as to move the body forward.
According to him, the NOC has a duty to present the report to the House for adoption and debate.
