Yelwa battle Peaks on SuperSport Select

The newly refurbished National Sports Commission, NSC gymnasium in Bauchi will come alive this weekend when host Yelwa Hawks basketball club will take to the court against Savannah conference hopeful Plateau Peaks basketball club of Jos.

The match billed for Sunday will be live on SuperSport Select Channel to basketball faithful across the globe.

The Savannah conference pairing will be the first to screen live by the sponsor in the 2009/ 2010 Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) DStv Premier League with jump-ball fixed for 16H00 GMT.

Hawks who is yet to record a win in the four-week old league will look up to veteran combo-guard Jeffery Lohor to inspire other players as they search for their first win.

The 6ft 3inch tall off-guard has declared that his team Yelwa Hawks is prepared to end their barren run in the Nigeria top league so far.

Other week-4 games billed the weekend Bauchi Nets basketball club will entertain the visiting Plateau Peaks on Saturday at the Multi-purpose hall in Bauchi; Niger Potters basketball club of Minna will be at home to Kada Stars basketball club of Kaduna also on Saturday while Tapgun Rockets basketball club of Jos will take on AHIP Giants basketball club of Kano with a bid to end it losing streak.

In the Atlantic conference Dodan Warriors basketball club of Lagos who seems to have found a winning formula will be guest of Delta Force basketball club of Asaba in a game that would hold Friday at the Indoor Sports Hall of Asaba Township Stadium.

Dodan Warriors who recorded its first win last weekend against Royal Hoopers basketball club of Port Harcourt in Lagos with a slim 73-70 point’s victory are set to further compound the dwindling fortune of its host (Delta Force) who seems not to be enjoying its home court having lost the two games played there so far.

Wounded Royal Hoopers basketball club of Port Harcourt will be at home to visiting Lagos Islanders basketball club of Lagos at the Civic Centre on Sunday.
