The Lagos Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, has called for the dissolution of the Electoral Committee set up to conduct election into the board of Nigeria Football Association.
This was contained in a communique issued On Thursday at the end of the second editio of the Association's round table at the SWAN's Secretariat inside the National Stdium, Surulere.
While briefing sports journalists on the Association's resolution, its Secretary, Fred Edoreh, said the Chairman of the Committee Abdulhakeem Mustapha, has personal and official interest being a personal lawyer to the impeached Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association and also being on retainership with the NFA.
Edoreh, said the position of Mustapha stands in conflict in relation to the assignment which he had been called to execute and that some members of the Electoral committee stll have unresolved issue of probity and integrity with the authourity.
He said the the states election should be held before the national election into the NFA board and that it is in consonance withArticle 25 subsection of the National Assembly Act of 101.
The round table also resolved that current members of the States FA specifically Chairmen have compromise at th exppense of the best interest of the leadership of NFA, adding that their tenure has long expired and it would be undemocratic and an abberation to engage such person for election into the national offices.
He said the electoral guidelines should be discarded with being that it closes democratic space against credible candidates and stakeholders in the Nigeria football family as it also contains clauses that are ambigious which is misleading and self interpretation, adding that a new guideline should allow credible candidates and stakeholders of Nigerian football family to take part in th election.
It was also resolved that the current members of the NFA should be disqualified from taking part in the election since they had been part of the flawed system for alleged corruption seemingly aiding and abeiting them which led to the impeachment of three principal officers of NFA. , adding that the Acting NFA President, Aminu Maigari, is not legible to vye for any position being that he is still under EFCC investigation.
It also observed that the office of the Secretary General should advertised and open to professionals and the appointment of Secretary from the National Sports Commission should be discarded and it should be conducted by a well proven private agency.
The round table also resolved that the name NFF is illegal and unconstitutional to Nigerian laws and that any activity conducted under NFF and not NFA is null and void as the August 21 date remains postponed, adding that the election should be postponed fr a new Electoral Committee to stage another exercise in three months time.
Edoreh, said the election of NPL should be upheld.
