Interclube Retains FIBA Africa Club Champions Trophy.

Interclube Basketball Club of Angola has retained the FIBA African Club Champions for Women after beating Nigeria's representative, First Bank Basketball Club in the final of 17th edition of the continental women basketball tournament which came to a close on Saturday at the Sportshall of the National Stadium, Surulere.

The Angola side that has ninety percent of the country's national team players in its fold outdunked First Bank Basketball Club by 81 points to 55 to win the tournament's coveted trophy as the club won all their matches.

The team which paraded young and agile basketball players were delightful to watch as they showed that they are potential champion with the quality of basketball skills displayed which eraned them victories in each of the quarter.

First Bank Basketball Club played their best in the first qaurter which ended 12 - 10 in favour of the Angolans who also picked the second quarter with nineteen points as against their opponet that had tirteen points to wrap up the second quarter, 31 - 23.

The Angolans that had 28 points to end third quarter, 59 - 42, intensified their efforts to subdued the bankers as they wrap up the game by 81 - 55.

Green Danille of Interclube who was adjudged the tournament's Most Valuable Player, top the list of the best five basketball players of the tournament.

Others are Ogoke Sarah of First Deepwater Basketball, Catarina Camuful of Interclube Basketball Club , Rashidat Sadiq of First Bank Basketball Club and Guadalupe Sonia of Interclube Basketball Club.

Nkechi of First Deepwater Basketball Club won the best pointer award, while compatriot Chinyere Ibekwe won te highest re bounder award as Kenya Port Authourity Basketball Club won the Fair Play Award
