To ensure a hitch free hosting of the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012, the Security Sub Committee of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has trained 500 stewards for the sporting fiesta.
The training, which was held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium at the weekend witnessed turnout of 700 applicants that took part in the two-day exercise anchored by the Vice Chairman of the security sub-committee, Tade Azeez and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gideon Akinsola.
With the final screening, 500 were selected for the games with a two-hour lecture for the successful stewards.
Akinsola tutored the stewards on crowd control during the festival, while Azeez lectured the stewards on their duties at various venues of the festival with the stewards expected not to create panic at venues of the games.
Akinsola, however, charged the stewards to complement security’s personnel jobs during and after the festival, adding that their conducts would be crucial to the success of the festival.
