Governor Babatunde Fashola Unveils 57 Adopted Athletes.

Concentration on the short victories and lossing the enduring successes has been identified as the major reason why Nigeria delve into age- cheat at international competitions.
Governor Babatunde Fashola, who made this statement on Thursday at the unveiling of adopted fifty-seven athletes under the Adopt-A-Talent sports programme, said the recently concluded Channels Kids Soccer Competition was a testimony that the country is blessed with great talents but the ability to nurture to stardom is lacking.

Fashola, said most of Nigerian football players who played alongside Argentina and Barcelona ace star, Lionel Messi, were not into active soccer because the nation believed in immediate result, adding that Nigeria needs to delve into a well structured developmental programme similar to Adopt-A-Talent sports programme.
While thanking the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Sports Development, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, for his passion and his unflinching support towards developing the standard of sports, the Governor, said the determination of the present administration paved the way for the success of Adopt-A-Talent sports programme which according to him had been subjected to experiments.
"Thank you for your passion and support towards developing the standard of sports in Lagos State"We failed to acknowledged passion and it is the most defining content in what we do.
"The Senior Special Assistant has put his time to something else apart from football to the development of young people and it is a rare talents even in the coaching to find them who have adopted to develop children in sports".
We started an interesting journey today because the road to this place has taken 3 years, so we are out publicly for the first time.But we have been experimenting along the way.We have failed and that not News because we are able to get up."
He regarded the adopted athletes and others athletes within the programme lucky because his government recognise the importance of sports and education, adding that the athletes should endeavour to focus on their academic careeer as it is the bedrock of their future endeavours.
