President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, Sanni Ndanusa, says plans are in top gear to elevate the status of the annual Governor's Tennis Lagos Cup to a challenger level.
While speaking with sports journalists, Ndanusa, says the NTF as well local organising committee, LOC, of the International Tennis Federation,ITF, approved tennis circuit have concluded plans to make the competition strictly to the best two hundred ranked tennis stars in the world.
According to him, Nigeria through the competition have attained the height where the worlds best ranked tennis players, will feature in the tournament to garner points to compete in the Grandslams.
Speaking on the effect on Nigerian tennis players, Ndanusa, says the NTF and the organisers of Governor's Cup Tennis Lagos cannot continue to wait for them having created an enabling environment for them to attain greater height in tennis.
While commending Jonathan Igbinovia, for sponsoring two Nigerian tennis stars to feature in a tennis circult in the United States of America, the chairman of Nigeria Olympic committee, appealed to the local organising committee and corporate bodies to render financial assistant to three Nigerian tennis stars
who performed beyond expectations in the ITF approved tennis circuits so as to enable them to win international laurels.
