Shooting Stars of Ibadan has appointed former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Fatai Amoo, as the team new Chief Coach.
The Club's General Manager, Mutiu Adepoju, who promised better results henceforth, assured that Fatai Amoo would unveil today in Ibadan.
According to a release made available to sportsweight.blogspot.com,the Super Eagles assistant coach was on Monday employed by the club as a replacement for erstwhile Chief Coach Phillip Boamah who was sacked last December after a string of poor results.
The development finally lays to rest the several months of speculation regarding a substantive coach for the team.
In defending the choice of Fatai Amoo as the team's Chief Coach, Adepoju stressed that the former Julius Berger handler has the experience and technical know-how to make a difference.
He said Fatai Amoo was one of the best indegenous coaches available and his experience would come very handy at a time that the club wants to be relevant in the Premier League.
According to him, the club's management has gone through a pain-staking process to arrive at employing Amoo as the Chief Coach, hoping that his appointment would usher in a new beginning for the club in terms of results.
3SC had been without a substantive handler since December last year when Boamah was sacked, prompting Mutiu Adepoju to combine his official portfolio as General Manager with that of interim coach.
Under Adepoju’s guidance the club was able to improve on its league standing, and at a point, were amongst the first 10 teams on the log. He also led the team to win the Oyo State Confederation Cup last Sunday following a penalty shoot-out win over Crown FC of Ogbomoso.
Amoo, a former Nigerian international who has had spells with Julius Berger and Sunshine Stars in the Premier League before being appointed assistant national team coach, had for long being touted as the club’s choice amongst the long list of prospective candidates.
