The Ojodu Local Council Development Area has launched its Under twenty football Club in readiness for the Lagos State Junior Football League.
The Junior Football League was the brain child of the Lagos State Government to further add value to grassroot football and to create opportunity for the youth to play a competitive football league in the mode of the National League.
Its Chairman, James Abiodun Faleke, said the football club would be run in a professional manner where all the players would sign a contratual agreement with the council ina bid to deprieve other councils from poaching them.
Faleke, said the selected thirty football players for the Junior League were picked based on their skills, stressing that the league would help to take away the youth from the streets and social vices.
He said the administration of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, approved the league to help the football players to achieve greater height in their chosen profession, stressing tat the league is another means of developing sports in the state.
According to him, Ojodu LCDA is the first among others councils in the state that would first launch its team to the public as challenged the players not to be afraid of others teams when the tournament proper starts
He urged the team's techical crew to ensure that the team qualify for the Premier League, adding tat the club's jersies would be endorsed by corporate bodies that want to partner the council.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Councl, Agboola Dabiri, who described the Junior Football League was the last line of Nigerian football, said the league is the saviour of NNigerian football because Nigerian football is in the state of coma.
Dabiri, is optimistic that the Nigerian national league would be parading products of the Junior League in the next couple of years because of the talents that are abound in the state.
