M.O.C Wants Athletes To Break Existing National Records.

The Main Organising Committee of the 18th National Sports Festival tagged EKO 2012 Games is expecting athletes participating to break national records set at the last two Games hosted by the Kaduna and Rivers States Government.
"We want to witness the breaking of national records at the EKO2012, breaking of records set at the Garden City Games and possibly Kada Games".
Secretary of the Main Organising Committee, Abba Yola, said the Games had been avenue where athletes from different states of the federation want to exhibit their skills and also want to attract national and international recognition by setting outstanding national records.
He said the Games would serve as an opportunity to discover athletes would be nurtured ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games as well as other international competitions, stressing that discovered athletes would be engaged in series of compettions to put them in top shape ahead of the Olympic Games.
"To discover athletes to be used for future international competitions.Not only in Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games and other major international events".
"This informed the M.O.C decision to invite the Federation's Secretaries and technical directors in identifying and ensuring that the facilities are in conformity with the International Federations standard."
He said it was not the responsibility of the National Sports Commission, NSC, to search for credible athletes as it was the duty of the Sports Associations and their technical directors to discover athletes and design a comprehensive sports programme that would enhance their performance at major international competitions.
He added that the need to present a virile athletes at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games informed the MOC decision to invite the sports associations secretaries as well their technical directors in identifying and ensuring that facilities for the EKO 2012 are in conformity with international standards.
