The Honourable Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Lagos State, Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi has commiserated with the family of the late sports editor of Channels Television, Mr. Joe Ighile who passed on to glory on Friday, 8th February, 2013.
Enitan Oshodi described the late Joe Ighile as an astute sports journalist who has over the years in sports journalism has promoted the development of sports through his concise, precise and constructive sports reportage, “Joe Ighile has helped in the development of sports through his constructive criticism in areas we are lacking in sports administration.
He has been a pillar of strength in projecting the achievements of Lagos State sports men and women on television and at other fora”.
Enitan further said that, “we in Lagos State particularly would miss Joe Ighile who ought to start enjoying the fruits of his labour in sports reporting in the past years”.
He therefore prayed that God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss of Joe Ighile who was just getting to his prime. Oshodi also recollected the years when Oshodi was a member and later Chairman of Lagos State Table Tennis Association as well as member of the National Table Tennis Federation, how Joe was supportive in the development of the sports up to and even till the time Oshodi was made the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development in the State.
Enitan concluded by praying that may we not experience the loss of young, active young men and women who are contributing to the development of our youth and sports anymore.
He implored the sports journalism community to take heart and know that Joe has gone to rest in the bosom of the Almighty.
