Rivers State Abandones Nigerian Baseball Federation.

The fate of Nigeria baseball team playing against Ghana national team this wekend is looking deemed.

Investigation reveals that the team which has been camping in the Garden City has been abandoned by the Rivers State Sports Ministry.

It was gathered that the plight of the team went bad when the Director of Sports, DH Harry, vehemently refused to inform the appropriate quarters about the camping of the National team in the state.

This continued until last Sunday when the players and the officials were threatened to be thrown out of the hotel.

This prompted the Director of Sports to notify and visited the camp with the commissioner of sports where they promised to provide all the necessarylogistics the team needed.

Harry however promised that the state has concluded plans to give maximum support to the team adding that flight tickets, feeding, accommodation and allowances of the team must be catered for by the ministry.

Team officials are holding meeting to decamp the players since there was no fund to prosecute the Accra Friendly.

Meanwhile, similar fate awaits the nation’s Under 12 baseball team as the National Sports Commission through Director of Sports, Chief Bolaji Ojo- Oba has told the federation that NSC cannot not sponsor the young lads the July world cup in Taiwan.
