Kolawole Oladapo of Nigeria Police Force and Tolu Durosimi Etti of J30 tennis club have emerged winners of the just concluded Chairman's Rumble Table Tennis Championship at the Mobolaji Johnson Sportshall, Rowe-Park, Yaba.
Oladapo, who is the current Men's singles champion at the last police games in Portharcourt, Rivers State defeated his arch-rival, Mojeed Olayiwola of springfresh table tennis club by four set to three, 8-11, 11-7, 7-11,11-8,11-9,9-11,11-9 to smile home with the cash prize of twenty thousand naira and a trophy.
Oladapo, who regarded his victory as a miracle was never tipped by pundits to win the competition which paraded top table tennis players in the state but stroke of luck beckoned on him especially in the last set of the game where he was down by 4 point to 8 and he won the set, 11- 9.
Instead of being despair, the police officer fought hard amassing seven consecutive points to win the game, 11- 9, which Mojeed Olayiwola had already been tipped to win the game having defeated Ayo Omotara at the Semi final clash.
To reach the final, Mojeed Olayiwola outplayed Ayo Omotara, the team captain of Lagos State team to the last National Spoprts Festival tagged EKO 2012 Games, 11 - 8, 11 - 4, 10 - 12, 13 - 11, 11 - 5, 11 - 9 while Oladapo defeated David Fayele, 11 - 2, 11 - 8, 6 - 11, 5 - 11,5 - 11, 11 - 7, 13 - 11.
In the female cadre, Tolu Durosimi Etti of J30 Table Tennis Club by four set to three to grab the sum of twenty thousand naira as cash prize money.
