Pepsi Street Cup Tourney Will Produce Nigeria's Future Stars, Says Thurston

The management of Seven- Up Bottling Company, has said that the conclusion of Lagos centre of the maiden edition of the Pepsi Street Cup Tournament, a grassroot Five- A- Side Football competition will help to identify potential players who could represent Nigeria in future competitions.
Its Head of Marketing, Nordeen Thurston, said the competition was another platform created by the company to produce credible football players who are not playing in the nation's national leagues to play for the national teams.
Thurston, who was delighted with the standard of the competition said the decision to sponsor the tournament among the grassroot players in nine cities was to make them Heroes of the street through football, stressing that the achievement of this year's edition would spur the company to invest in the event.
The General Manager, Ikeja Regional Plant, Dele Abioye said the tournament showed that the future of football in Nigeria is bright following the display of soccer artistry, adding that the competition was avenue for the players to be discovered by football scouts.
