Supersand Eagles to camp in Lagos for Beach Soccer AFCON

The Beach Soccer National Team, otherwise known as Supersand Eagles, will camp at the Aivoji Beach, Badagry outside Lagos ahead of next month’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt.


Two –time African champions Nigeria will join Cote d’Ivoire, Libya, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania and hosts Egypt at the continental finals slated for 8^th – 14^th December in Cairo.


Head Coach of the Supersand Eagles, Audu Ejo Adamu told thenff.com on Wednesday that he has called to camp 20 players he believes will compete keenly to make the final list of 12 players that would do Nigeria proud at the championship.


“Nigeria is a force in beach soccer on the African continent and that means any team we send to the continental championship must be able to live up to the high expectation of Nigerians.


“We will make the best use of the camping program and pick players who would fight for the pride of the country when the championship starts on December 8.”


Nigeria won the 2007 and 2009 African Beach Soccer Championships, and finished as runners –up in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2016.


The last edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations was held in Lagos, Nigeria in December 2016 and also served as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in The Bahamas. Senegal won the tournament, with Nigeria finishing as runners –up. Both teams represented Africa in The Bahamas.


Coach Adamu has called usual suspects Paul Dami Danjuma (Katsina United), Emeka Ogbonna (Leeds United, Lagos), Abu Aziz (Rangers International), Suleiman Ogodo (Nasarawa United), Victor Tale (Kogi United) and Emmanuel Ohweferia (Owibeseb FC, Lagos), but there are also Joshua Enaholo (former Flying Eagles’ goalkeeper, now with Abia Warriors FC), Arome Isah (Kogi Confluence), Clement Ogosi (Leeds United, Lagos), Michael Tyson (Iganmu FC, Lagos), Kabiru Balogun (Nasarawa United), Godwin Zaki (Rangers International), Eric Dufegha (Katsian United), Nwagua Nyima (Kano Pillars), Taiwo Adams (Owibeseb FC, Lagos), Hammed Kareem (Owibeseb FC, Lagos), Pascal Eze (Delta Force), Ayomide Iluyomade (Abia Comet), Haruna Sanusi (NYSC FC, Sokoto) and Femi Friday (SEC FC, Abuja).


The finals in Egypt will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled for Paraguay. The Supersand Eagles came within a place in the semi finals of the 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy before losing in extra time to Brazil.

Adamu Thumbs Up Sand Eagles Impressive Performance,

Samson Adamu, the CEO of Kinetic Sports Managenent,  Organisers of  the annual Copa Lagos beach soccer tournament has applauded the impressive performances of the Super Sand Eagles, presently campaigning at the on going Caf African beach soccer championship and Beach soccer World Cup qualifer in Seychelles.

The Sand Eagles took their host to the cleaners in a 11 goals thriller that saw the Sand Eagles winning the match 10 - 1 and also gaining another 3 points from another African  Soccer power,Egypt  via a three goal advantage with the match ending  4 -1. 

The beach soccer  franchise owner in Nigeria has called on the team to keep it up and go past  their next opponent in tomorrows match against the National beach team of Cote'd  ivoire. 

Samson Adamu who spoke via a telephone conversation with the team says " it is very expedient to win their match against the Ivory Coast National beach team has it will go along way to boast the confidence of the team Pscologically and get the team focused on coming top in their group enroute to the finals of the Caf African  Beach Soccer Championship, there by quaranty the Super Sand Eagles a world Cup ticket to portugal in June this year".

Samson Adamu has also called on the NFF to do all they can motivation wise to make sure the Super Sand Eagles maintain their splendid form and performances to aid their qualification to the forth coming beach soccer world cup in portugal.

Eko Beach Soccer League Kicks Off.

The maiden edition of the Eko Beach Soccer League kicked off on Monday at the Eko Atlantic City Beach Soccer Stadium. Victoria Island.

In the first match of the day, MFM Beach Soccer club lost to Young Strikers Beach Soccer Club by 4 goals to 2 after extra time, with the game ending two goals a piece.

Remo Stars Beach football club stopped Colin Edwin Beach Soccer Team 5-2 at full time.

Ibeju-Lekki Beach Football Club defeated C.O.D United Beach Soccer Team by 7 goals to 4, while Island Beach Soccer Club defeated Owibesebe Beach Soccer Club 1-0 on penalties after extra time with the match ending 3 goals a piece in regulation time.

Chairman, Lagos State FA, Seyi Akinwunmi,  said the league was part of the board's desire to develop the game of beach soccer in the State, adding that the talents displayed in the State and country has lots of potential to be among the best beach soccer nations in the world.

However the eight club league which is for non professional players will move to Elegushi Beach Soccer Stadium, Lekki next Wednesday.

World Champions, Russia Confirmed For Copa Lagos 2013.

Kinetic Sports Management has announced on Monday that the 2013 Beach Soccer World Cup

Champions, Russia will compete at Copa Lagos 2013.

The third edition of the Beach Soccer tournament will be sponsored by banking giants FCMB, the 3 day tourney will take place December 13th till the 15th at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Russia are back to back Beach Soccer World Champions (2011 & 2013) it will be the 1st time that any reigning World Champion will compete at Copa Lagos.

Copa Lagos 2013 has been billed as the biggest Beach Soccer tournament in Africa, and hosting the World Champions Russia, in Lagos, Nigeria is a significant statement of intent. Nigeria is the current holder of the Copa Lagos crown, winning the tournament in 2011 and 2012.

The Sand Eagles remain unbeaten at Copa Lagos having played the likes of Brazil, Portugal and  Argentina amongst others.

The Russians were the top scorers in the Beach Soccer World Cup tourney in Tahiti last month. They outscored Brazil, and in Dmitrii SHISHIN they also possessed the tournament’s top scorer.
